Did you know that in 1982 FEMA recorded our neighborhood as being in a flood zone?  Since 1982 many changes have taken place with the land our homes have been built on.  Darren and I recently refinanced our home.  The day before closing the mortgage company required us to obtain flood zone insurance.  We knew this was false, how were we able to buy our house with out it in the first place.  Our poor loan officer was a reck. 

The application process for our neighborhood has not been completed.  We were able to find enough paperwork to prove that we were not in a flood zone.  I have attached the Letter of Map Amendment.  Click here to down load a copy of the Letter of Map Amendment .  This letter helped us avoid getting flood zone insurance.  Most of the neighborhood is listed on by lot and block on this amendment. 

To see if your home is still listed in the flood zone contact Chris at the City of Lino Lakes.  651-982-2400.  They can help you start the application process.  Having this application process completed will save you many headaches when it comes time to sell or refinance your home. I hope that this helps save someone a few white hairs.
